ELAC FLYER SPANISH VERSION
Good afternoon Lime Street Families, My name is Carrie Lewis, and I serve as principal here at Lime Street Elementary. In speaking for Lime, we want you to know our site staff is committed to creating a safer, more supportive, and equitable learning environment that promotes ALL students’ social-emotional development, academic achievement, and a strong sense of belonging. To meet your student’s needs, we are aware changes and growth are necessary. One area of need is building a stronger partnership between our staff, students, and families, which means we need each of you. Your representation, thoughts, ideas, and voice can serve to create a new vision for Lime. We need you! This journey of reuniting, reimagining, and setting each other up to thrive is only just beginning. Please join us on this journey to better serve our community. This week we are hosting student conferences. Soon, we will be asking families to join different committees; we will have a town hall to gather information to serve our community best and strengthen our partnership. We look forward to strengthening our partnership and amplifying your voices. Your Principal, Carrie Lewis

What’s happening at Lime Street Elementary? Students have been learning all about Daily 5! Daily 5 is a structure we use during our literacy block. Students get to work in small groups, while our teachers work to meet students where they need it most with guided reading, conferring sessions, and strategy groups, giving them personalized instruction. Daily 5 includes: Read to Self Work on Writing Word Work Listen to Reading Read to Someone On our walls, you can see CAFE Menus all over our campus. CAFE strategies help our BEARS learn and practice very important reading skills. CAFE stands for: C-Comprehension: I understand what I read. A-Accuracy: I can read the words. F-Fluency: I can read accurately with expressions and understand what I read. E-Expand Vocabulary: I know, find, and use interesting words. Ask your students about Daily 5 or their CAFE menus today!

Early Out Notification
Good Day Lime Street Families, This is your principal Ms. Lewis. Oh my goodness, arrival and dismissal was a bit rough yesterday. The good news is we made changes to both. Arrival was amazing today! We opened up the two front gates and students are now allowed to flow through both entrances and head straight to the cafeteria either to exit out the back to their grade level supervised meet up area or to get breakfast in one of our two breakfast lines and then to head out to their grade level supervised meeting area. We believe dismissal will also be so much better today. Here is what we have for you. For Drive Up/Car Pick Up, families will no longer go through the school parking lot. Families in vehicles will pick up their children at the gate in front of our playground equipment located on E. This means cars will be lined up on E and the length of the line will have to extend to Lime Street. We will have all grades waiting and watching for their cars from the grass. This gate is for cars only. Anyone who walks up expecting to pick up from this gate will slow down our process of dismissal. Unfortunately, they will be asked to get back in their vehicle and or to switch their students’ pick up procedure to Walk Up or Walker. Please do not walk up to the Car Pick Up spot to pick up your student. At this gate, we will have to take the time to ask you to get in your car and to not cut the line. If your student is at Walk Up, we will now be opening the gate and allowing families into the cafeteria in small groups to pick up their students. Students will be arranged in the space by grade levels at tables. We will be posting the map of table assignments. Please wait patiently and provide space to other families as they wait to be allowed onto the campus for pick up. Two staff members will be supporting and allowing families on to the campus in small groups to ensure the safety of our students. We need to make sure we are handing students off to the correct adult. Our goal is safety first. Walkers will be the same as yesterday. This seemed to go smoothly. They will be leaving the campus first. Walkers will meet up with siblings and/or walking partners at the corner of Lime and E. Next, we will assist students safely across the street where they will be released to walk home. Thank you all for your patience and understanding as we work through these changes to better serve our community. Your proud and flexible principal Ms. Lewis and all Lime Street Staff!

Dismissal Map
Good afternoon, Lime Street Families. This is a reminder that our first day of school begins Thursday, August 5th, 2021. Gates open with breakfast being served starting at 9:00 a.m. Supervision of students will not begin until 9:00 a.m. please do not have them arrive early. Students’ instructional day ends at 3:27 at which time we will begin our dismissal procedures. We will not be using the app iDismiss at the beginning of this year. We will keep you posted on the implementation of iDismiss at a later date. To best serve our students, we are holding the Meet the Teacher event today from 3-5 p.m. Note: The event will be held outside to better ensure the safety of all. Due to the current state of COVID, we will not be having parents onsite during regular school hours. Please join us to verify your child’s teacher and to help your child locate their classroom and the cafeteria before their first day of school. If you have not had communication with your child’s teacher regarding transportation, please be sure to provide that information tonight at our Meet the Teacher event.

Good morning, Lime Street Families! We have been getting inquiries from families regarding their students’ teachers for this coming school year. On Wednesday, August 4, 2021, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. we will be holding our annual Meet the Teacher event. Teachers will be reaching out to families beginning Monday, August 2 in an effort to make their first connection with their students and their families. At that time, please provide the teacher with information for how your child will be getting home from school.
